As a medical student, Dr. Jay Crawford knew that he was destined for a career as an orthopaedic surgeon because of his interest in sports, logic, problem-solving, and biomechanics. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Crawford earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville. Following medical school, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, where he was the Harrelson Award winner. Dr. Crawford then stayed on at Duke to complete a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery.
After serving for seven years at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Crawford joined KOC in 2008 as a pediatric and adolescent orthopaedic specialist. His special interests include deformities of the extremities and spine, fractures in children and adolescents, minimally invasive advancements in surgery, and athletic injuries of the hip and knee.

In addition to his work at KOC, Dr. Crawford also enjoys developing apps for medical practices and patients. He believes technology is key to improving the healthcare customer experience and the viability of private practices.
Dr. Crawford and his wife Staci, a native Knoxvillian and Webb School graduate, have three children.
